The Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India offers the Smt. Bala Tandon award every academic year for contributions in the field of mining. Once again, Prof D P Tripathy from the Department of Mining Engineering has given the NITR populace yet another reason to be proud of the institute.
Formerly honoured with ‘MEAI- Smt. Bala Tandon Memorial Award, 2013-14’ for his contribution to ecology and environment improvement in the mining industry, he has been the recipient of yet another award this year.
The Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI), run under the presidency of the eminent A N Sahay (CMD, MCL), presents awards sponsored by industries and individuals to eminent mining engineers during the Annual General Meeting every year. Hundreds of nominations are filed across the country in anticipation of receiving an award by open selection.
The ceremony was conducted on the 109th Annual General Meeting for the year 2014-15 of the MGMI on Saturday, the 26th of September, 2015 in Rajarhat, Kolkata. Prof Tripathy has received the ‘MGMI- Smt. Bala Tandon Memorial Award, 2014-2015’ for his ‘outstanding contribution in upgrading the quality of life in Mining Environment’, based on his academic and research accomplishments and industrial services throughout his career. He was presented with a gold medal, cash prize and certification for his outstanding work
