Catering to the need of keeping up with rapid development in technology in recent times, and in inspiring those around to discover their passion for the same, Microsoft Campus Club has lived up to the status of being one of the pioneers as a technical club of NIT Rourkela. Founded on the first of August, 2005, it has come a long way from being a localised organisation to one with nationally recognised events, while establishing similar clubs in other engineering colleges in Rourkela.

Having had a legacy of a series of technical contests and sessions throughout the year, the club continued its activities across the two semesters. Its annual online cryptic treasure hunt “Treasherlocked”, conducted in the pre-Innovision week, had a large participation of 3090 users and 18963 site visitors.

Codenigma, which was carried out on 11th of February, 9 PM onwards, was an overnight coding competition hosted on Hackerrank, where people from all over the nation participated. Although the LAN stopped working on that evening, and reduced the chances of NITR students from participating, the event was still a huge success, witnessing a participation of about 750 people. Yet another coding event, Code Recall, a one day long coding marathon, was conducted starting on the 1st of April.

In the odd semester, a few web-development and coding workshops were conducted for the club members, especially the first years. The former ones were aimed at honing the members’ skills in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and PHP.

The even semester saw a number of Data Structure workshops, which were open across all branches and streams. Also, a free JAVA workshop was organized with certified training and bonus prizes, conducted by Silan technologies, for which there was a turn-up of about 70 students.

For the present academic year, MCC has as its postholders:

Covenors: Dilip Raj Baral, Anukta Datta

Coordinators: Sangeet Singh, Kamal Agrawal

Secretary (External Affairs): Eshwar Prithvi Jonnadula

Secretary (Internal Affairs): Alolika Gon

Content Head: Roshni Biswas

Design Head: Srijan Dongol

Technical Head: Dibyam Agrawal

Dilip also bagged the prestigous Google Summer of Code Internship for year of 2016.

With a team of dedicated members, and a promising outlook, Microsoft Campus Club looks all set to even further its stance as one of the most active and fruitful leading technical clubs at NIT Rourkela.
