Udaan was formed way back in 2002 by an aviation enthusiast Mr. Anuj Verma, who is currently working for The Indian Air Force. The host let the audience know that the model aircraft in front of the Bhubaneswar Behera Auditorium was the brainchild of Mr. Verma. The event then proceeded with the club Treasurer, Namrata describing the various projects of the club, its achievements, and its objectives. Some of the successful projects of the club are:
- RC plane
- Amphibian boat
- Quad copter
- Catapult glider
The audience was also informed about the successful ventures of the club in several college competitions, including:
• Kshitij- IIT Kharagpur
• TechKriti- IIT Kanpur
• TechFest- IIT Bombay
It was followed by a presentation on the working mechanism of some of the aero models. The event then moved on to the inductions, where the students were given a questionnaire, which consisted of technical questions, testing the reader’s familiarity with several areas.
When asked about the club’s future plans, the President of the club, Karthik was quoted saying:
We want to conduct as many workshops as possible. We want to reach out to as many students as possible and help them achieve their dreams. We hope to invite guests during workshops, whose life stories would inspire the enthusiastic students. We also wish to complete projects on the Hydroplane and the submarine, which we couldn’t do last year because of budget crunches.
Team MM congratulates the Udaan family for having hosted a successful orientation and induction and wishes it good luck in all its future ventures which would bring laurels to NITR.
