An Exciting Mathematical Enigma: Numero Uno V2.0

The official Mathematics club of NITR- Axiom, organized a two day long, exciting yet rewarding online cryptic hunt- The Numero Uno- V2.0. Seven years back, the club founder Anshuman Prakash, envisioned to organize an interactive online event, but due to inadequate resources, the event could not happen. But this year, the club members worked hard day and night and saw a huge success of their flagship event. From designing posters, teasers, memes, generating referrals to fetching sponsorship, everything was done by a team which comprised of 20 diligent members of the club.

Numero Uno V2.0 was based on a story line-up, in which a Mathematician is murdered and the participants are required to investigate the murder mystery and decipher the murderer, using the hints provided at different levels of the game. The story line-up was developed by the freshers and sophomores of the club.

The registration for the event was kept free of cost. Around 1900 people registered for the event from 82 different colleges. The registrations were not just limited to India, many people also registered from other countries like Canada, United States, France etc. The credit for this goes to the extravagant publicity done by the Axiom Team.

At the very start of the event, on October 20th, the official website of Numero Uno faced some sorts of technical glitches due to overloading of the server which was later taken care of by the team. On Day 1, 800 people actively participated in the event and on Day 2, 450 ventured out for this interesting online cryptic hunt.

Team Axiom is very much grateful to the alumni of the club who gave a handsome amount of sponsorship for Numero Uno. This year the club also celebrates ten glorious years of its existence inside the institute. Other sponsors included Dominos, RedFM, Indian Oil, Maacarts, LIT, MediaWorld Ovotees, with Monday Morning and PTBN, as the official media partners.

There was nearly a prize for every participant who played at least two levels, in the form of vouchers and discount coupons. The big prizes for the winners consisted of mobiles phones, Bluetooth speakers, set of GoT books, iPods, Headphones, Power banks and much more. All the prizes were of worth one lakh rupees. The prizes have been parcelled to the winners by the Numero Uno Team.

The alumni of the club were very much exhilarated by the successful conduct of the event. Axiom plans to host two more events, this Innovision. The club also has plans to conduct a Mathematics Talent Search Exam for the schools inside Rourkela.
