Saraswati Puja or Vasant Panchami is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the Indian traditional month of Magha, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of January or February. This year, the Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great pomp and vigor on the 22nd of January. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Saraswati is regarded as the Goddess of knowledge, language, music and all arts.
NIT Rourkela celebrated the festival at Sachin Tendulkar Sports Complex and was organized by the Hall Management Council and Ph.D. community. In the HMC meeting, the Chief Warden assigned various tasks to the General Secretaries of various Halls to ensure smooth conduction of the program.
|Particulars||Hall In Charge|

The Puja started at around 8:30 AM and was followed by the unveiling of Goddess Saraswati’s face at noon. The puja concluded with Pushpanjali, which meant the entire crowd offered flowers at the feet of Goddess Saraswati on the cue of the brahmin, who recited the Shlokas. Finally, the Prasad was distributed to all the devotees. This time Prasad was distributed only at the Puja pandal and not in the halls.
The turnout for the function was pretty high with around 2000 students, faculty and their families turning up for the event, thus making the event a huge success.
The immersion of the idol took place on 23rd January, during the afternoon. The atmosphere was filled with joy and happiness with students singing and dancing to the melodious tunes.
The day ended on a good note with the happy faces going back with lots of positive vibes, blessings from Goddess Saraswati and happy memories to cherish for a long time! Team MM congratulates the HMC for having hosted a successful event and wishes them with all the luck in their future endeavors.
