Music has been a fountainhead of peace for many individuals. It is a respite from the tiring, hectic and melancholic situations of life. It is equally an important element in the most celebrated and memorable occasions of life.

On the concluding day of NITRUTSAV, the premises of the Bhubaneswar Behera Auditorium(BBA) echoed with the rhythmic voices of the contestants of VOICE OF NU. It was an enchanting forenoon session that attracted a crowd of nearly 200 people. The event was scheduled to start from 1:30 PM but was delayed by an hour because of the overdue conclusion of Qurious. In spite of the delay, the program continued with a good momentum, holding on to the excitement of the crowd. The aura of the melodious harmony captivated each soul present there. The host for the event Vicky Vikranth and Azmeera Nikitha managed the event smoothly. A total of 43 participants registered out of which 26 turned up for the event. Two rounds of selection were held. There were certain rules for the competition which were as follows:

  1. Maximum time limit was of  three minutes and exceeding it would lead to a negative marking
  2. Candidates can sing in either English or Hindi
  3. Each candidate would be judged based on their tone, rhythm, body language, clarity and response of the crowd


Based on the above criteria 5 out of 26 candidates were selected for the second round of VOICE OF NU. The candidates were judged by Sir Jyotirmayee Acharya, a great musician who was invited as the guest to grace the event. The second round of the battle among the five contenders began after a short break of ten minutes. The candidates were judged on the same criteria. Amrutha Varshini and Dipti Ranjan from NIT Rourkela was declared as the winner and the first runners-up, respectively. The crowd was enthralled with the tuneful performances. Jyotirmayee Acharya the esteemed judge of the session was felicitated with a bouquet and momentous at the end of the programme. In spite of the ordeals and the glitches the event was well coordinated and managed by Anurag Satpathy, Deepak Kumar and Hardip Gupta.

In a candid chat with Team Monday Morning. one amongst the audience was quoted as saying:

It was an amazing and entertaining event. The competition was really tough and worth watching. The event went on smoothly.
