Undergoing Rapid Changes

Monsoon’s here! And this time along with refreshing rains, it has brought with it some exciting news for the prospective chemical engineers. The department is all ready to get updated to version 2.0.The corridors of the department have got an extravagant charm with Prof. Pradip Rath crowned as the Head of Department (H.O.D) and three new faculties recently added to the list of our proficient professors.

The new faculty members include Prof. Aditya Kumar, Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Sahuand Prof. Soumya Sanjeeb Mohapatra.

Prof. Aditya Kumar completed his Ph.D. from renowned University of Siegen, Germany.  His research areas confine to thin films, functional coatings, nanomaterials, nanotechnology, nanoscience, surface science, interface, materials science, nanomechanics, nanotribology, and surface characterizations.

Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Sahu is a Ph.D. from reputed IIT Kanpur and specializes in Thin-film dynamics, Interfacial fluid mechanics, Non-Newtonian flows, Computational fluid dynamics.

Prof. Soumya Sanjeeb Mohapatra is another IITian from IIT Kharagpur who is also a Ph.D. and boastfully adds Heat Transfer, Spray and Atomization, Jet Cooling, Boiling and Condensation, Ultra-Fast Cooling to her immense intellectual trove.

All the above professors have joined as Assistant Professors in our prestigious institute.

To add another jewel to the crown, the department has loaded new equipment and is expecting more in the coming weeks.

Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) machine has been successfully installed under the supervision of Prof. Sujit Sen.  This is based on an analytical method that combines the features of gas-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify different substances within a test sample.

An interesting upcoming equipment is a microwave reaction system by Anton Paar which is expected to be installed within a week.

With the dynamic developments in the department, the future glows bright and ready to give a tough challenge to the competitive world.
