It gives a warm feeling when you see the name of one of your alumnus on the cover of a book. And, there are so many books out there, but very few to actually act as a companion in troubled times. Keeping the readers’ requirement and interest in mind, our alumnus Mr Vineet Bhatt decided to chronicle his experiences and author “Rear View Mirror” a self-help guide in form of fiction.

Clearing the Imbroglio: Higher Education Abroad

The alumni association is the most important part of an educational institution. Part of the reputation of an institution rests on its Alma Mater. Though the mantle of taking up the responsibility of setting up a proper alumni network has taken a setback over the few year, the newly formed Student Alumni-Liaison Committee took things upon themselves to improve the present scenario of our institute. On 11th January, 2015, the committee organised a seminar on the “Prospects of Higher Education”, where the speaker was one of our alumnus presently pursuing his PhD. in University of Minnesota, USA, Mr. Biswaranjan Mohanty, a 2009 pass-out from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This initiative can be very well put out as a perfect prelude to the NITR Alumni Reunion which is set to be held later this month.

NITRAAB: Preparing for Tomorrow

NITRAAB (NIT Rourkela Alumni Association Bhubaneswar) conducted a national seminar on the theme "Preparing for Tomorrow" on the 13th Dec 2014 at Hotel Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar. Two very eminent personalities, Dr. Anil Kakodkar, former Director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre  and Prof. Anil Gupta, a professor at IIM Ahmedabad, were the chief guest & key note speaker respectively. It was a golden opportunity for the attendee to have two such fine personalities discussing this important topic and thus giving direction to coming generations.

The Editor’s Epilogues: Laxmi Narayan Bhuyan

Coming from extremely humble beginnings to reaching the pinnacles of success, this time’s alumnus is an inspiration to all just because of his sheer determination and hard work. From serving as the Editor in Chief of the prestigious IEEE to being the chairman of UCR, there is scarcely any achievements he has to achieve.
