The Parting of the Ways
An eventfully hectic academic year, 27 Mondays and an unprecedented Tuesday, scores of articles, treasured moments of felicity, hundreds of consequences, dozens of hiccups and we finally adjust our sails to the winds blowing away from the place that gave it all. And it’s the time for trainings, internships, jobs, higher studies and not to forget ample relaxation and lazing for the NITR junta. The semesters are done with and as the final years devour every single last moment on these hallowed grounds, the roads gradually edge towards their deserted look and a numbered few gear up for a scorcher of a summer at NITR, Monday Morning gets ready to slip into a brief hibernation.

Canine Menace in the Campus
Cows, dogs, goats and pigs, these might very well be the commonest animals throughout the country. Be it the most developed metropolitan cities or the most underdeveloped rural areas, you can always find mongrels howling at the middle of the night, circling the dump and chasing the passing vehicles. You expect an institute of national importance to be free from such things but rarely is it so. The whole institute stands victim to the pariah dogs. They sometimes enter the classrooms, the mess, rooms of the hall boarders and not to mention their howling in the middle of the night which disturbs the sleep. In a recent trend they are moving in packs of 10-15 and chasing people. While no cases of dog bite have been reported, they have chased many people near Hall. Last Tuesday at about 10:30 PM when a boarder was taking a stroll in the open area outside G-Block of VS Halls a pack of dogs suddenly charged at him aggressively, finding no way to get back to his room he ran towards the boundary wall and jumped over it and fell, injuring his legs and back. He had to be rushed to the hospital that night.

Textbook Exhibition
The Text-Book Exhibition was held at the Common Mess Hall (Between MS Swaminathan and DBA Hall) from 11th to 14th April 2013. What started out with a noble motto of “every student has his/her own book” turned out to be a major hit among the students. As the exhibition was held in the hostel area and between 4pm to 8.30 pm, many students even broke out from the monotonous slumber filled weekends to pre-book for forthcoming semester.
