The tech day held on 8th September saw many events and participation from the students was encouraging. The astronomical club of NIT, Rourkela AstroPhysics club held an event ‘Astro@home’ which was an interactive workshop on the how to use the software “Stellarium”, know about the planetary positions and other objects present in space, sitting back comfortably at home or work.
The use of Stellarium was demonstrated and every student who participated in the workshop was given the software. An astronomical quiz was used as filler which showed the depth of interest the technocrats of our institute take in astronomy! As the caption of the club goes many astronomical aspects ‘Receding The Horizon’ were discussed and loads of brain-storming was done. All the students who turned up for the event returned with loads of interesting facts about the heavenly bodies, details about our amazing planet and space along with the zeal to learn more.
The club will be holding its orientation on 11th of this month. Those who have a niche for astronomy or have an interest to learn more about it should not let this opportunity be lost in oblivion!
