Common Mess kicks off soon

It is definitely going to be a very pleasant moment for the boarders DBA and MS Swaminathan hall of residence when they come to know that the construction work of the common building between their halls is not far from completion. Another important piece of information which must be conveyed to the boarders of both halls is that the completion of the construction work will definitely help them get a better place to dine and also to park their bicycles.

This is a two storeyed building and both the storeys are meant to provide different facilities to the boarders of both the halls. The ground floor is meant to be used as cycle parking space whereas first floor will be used for dining purposes. The total budget which was sanctioned for this project is about 4.5 crore. Construction work started in January, 2012 and it is expected to get over by December, 2012. Prof. Himansu Satpathy is the person in charge of this construction work.

It has got another feature i.e. it will be having a well paved and furnished road which connects the building to the main road in front of all the 6 linearly aligned halls of residence. This road will help the student easily get out of the parking space without any obstacle on his way. It has got enough space so that it will not get jammed so easily.

The ground floor is meant to provide sufficient parking space which will be used by students of both the halls. Constructional provisions have been made so that after parking their cycles, students of both halls can go to their respective halls. This parking space will not only provide a safe and secure place for bicycle parking, but also keep them safe from direct exposure to deteriorating and corrosive environment.

The first floor will provide space for dining purposes. When it starts functioning, it will be able to serve about 360 borders at a particular time. It will also help in creating an interactive environment between seniors and juniors residing in these two halls.

In a perfect ragging free institute(what we frequently call ‘zero ragging institute’) some juniors might get unhappy to dine with their seniors but it is a well analysed and examined fact that fruitful interaction between seniors and juniors will indeed help in nurturing a very positive environment which our institute strives for.
