The installation procedure for the IP based EPABX, Electronic Private Automatic Branch Exchange in our institute is almost about to get over. Prof. S.K. Behera, from the ECE department, who has been the professor-in-charge for supervising this work, is expecting the total work to finish by the end of September.
AASTRA Ericsson has replaced the old system provider Siemens Hicom that had a line capacity of 1200. Presently the line capacity of the new system is 2000 but it can handle upto 10000. All the faculty members and officials will have the IP instruments installed in their offices. Connection to F and G blocks will commence shortly. The installation cost is estimated to be about one crore and the total cost amounts to about three crores. This new system will surely benefit the residents of NIT.
