Training Programme attracts many
A training programme by the Mining engineering department in collaboration with the Odisha State Pollution Control Board on Regulatory compliance requirements of mining projects, Environmental Impact Assessment and Management in Mining, Forest Conservation, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Planning in Mining Areas recently attracted many students and employees. Held from 29th to 31st January, in the Mechanical Engineering Seminar Room, the seminar was attended by more than 39 registered participants and dozens of students.

COMSOL Workshop attracts all Fields of Engineers
Recently the mining engineering department organised a workshop on COMSOL multi-physics interactive software which saw scores of interested and curious students attending the Workshop and getting a piece of wisdom from this extremely helpful software which finds its use in almost all branches. The workshop which was conducted by Ashwin S. Mecheri, Sales Manager of COMSOL multi-physics, India, was attended by more than 60 students.

Paper Published: Elsevier
Professor H.B.Sahu from the Mining Engineering Department, along with Professor S.S.Mohapatra of Mechanical Engineering Department and Professor Panigrahi of ISM, Dhanbad, have recently published a paper on Fuzzy c-means clustering approach for classification of Indian Coal seams with respect to their spontaneous combustion susceptibility, which has been published by ELSEVIER. The article has also been put online since 12th June, 2012.

Welcome Freshers!
The freshers’ welcome program of the mining department was held on the 13th September in BBA amidst a cool and rainy weather outside. The program began with lighting of the lamp by the HOD of the Department, Prof. H K Naik, which was followed by the short speeches by the professors of the department.
