Registration seminar
Research scholar Manoj Kumar Sahu demonstrated a registration seminar on the topic Neutralization of Red Mud and Its Value Added Utilization on 5th April in the department seminar hall. Most of the faculty members and fellow research scholars attended the seminar and highly appreciated it.

The Patent Rush
Prof Raj Kishore Patel in the Department of Chemistry has recently procured two patents which is quite encouraging for the upcoming researchers in NIT Rourkela.
The pollution related dangers of red mud waste will soon be terminated in the coming future. Instead they won’t be considered as wastes, as the red hematite and trace amount of bauxite present in them can be extracted and processed in iron industries and alumina plants respectively.

Environmental Monitoring Program
Department of Chemistry organized a three day short term course on Environmental Monitoring. Around 40 industrial and 30 academic participants attended the program.

The Stanford Stature
Dr. Debayan Sarkar, Assistant professor in The Department of Chemistry recently returned back from the Stanford University, where he pursued his post-doctoral research with globally acclaimed leading Organic Chemist Prof. B.M.Trost.
