Field Visit Exposure of HS Department
The Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences recently had field visit to a remote village named Kansar under Lathikata Block of Sundergarh District. Both the batches of M.A in Development Studies students had joined for pre-field experience to work on the respective topic in their Master Thesis assigned by the department. All the students were asked to prepare questionnaires in their respective topic basically to look into the social, economic, institutional problem of the village. Each student had covered five households in that village. The students interacted with the villagers and asked many questions relating their social life, standard of living, health problems, etc. In addition to the regular class-room teachings this kind of field exposure definitely provides a better understanding of the things for the students. It is really fruitful step to enhance their research skills too.

The was prepared to justify that income is not an end to measure poverty but only a measure to it and to deal poverty as a social issue with a very common view, rather than dealing with it as an economic issue.
