On a rainy Friday evening, when the mightiest of living beings prefer going back to their shelter while some people enjoy the rain, Prof. SC Mishra gave his precious time to Team MM. A scrupulous room adorned with trophies, he greeted and interacted with us.
Hailing from the city of Lord Jagannath, Puri, he is a person with a noble heart and amazing intellect. He is also a person who believes in destiny and takes life as it goes by. His life and personality stands as an epitome of a respectful son, a radiant student, a compassionate family guy, the college dude and a friendly father. In short, he is a perfectionist in all trades of life. Apart from being a brilliant student, he got the award for “Best Actor” for two consecutive years in SCS College, Puri, for his extraordinary acting skills in college plays. Not only in college plays, he also played the lead role in some Oriya movies. Some of his best acts were in ‘Indradhanu ra ranga’and ‘Suna Safari’. During those days, he also had a keen interest in writing poems and articles. Many of his poems were published in ‘The Caravan’ and ‘The Mirror’. He was also awarded the ‘Yuva Lekhak Sammilan’ in 1978. When it comes to sports and games, he didn’t lag behind in that too! He was a state level badminton player and a district level football player. Thats not all, he also had immense interest in photography and has also photographed for major Oriya movies namely ‘Sindura Bindu’ and ‘Swapna Sagara’. Now also he is pursuing his interest in the field of photography and uploads his still photographs in a website named “mydailyflogs” under the name “Rourkela”.
When asked about his life as a professor, he says it is among the best of professions because every year he gets to see new faces and with new faces comes new hopes, ambitions and cleanses of all the frenzied memories and experiences. He has written four books, the latest being “Thermal Plasma application in Metallurgy”.Another two books are in the pipeline. Apart from being an academician, he is also a peace loving person. Adding another feather to his cap, he has been selected for International Peace Prize by the United Cultural Convention. To add to it he has also been awarded a “Top 100 Engineers of the World” certificate by International Biographical Centre. These awards are for the people whose daily work makes an impact to the society in the field of technology and their significant contribution to mankind. He has also been awarded “Bharat Siksha Ratan Award” for individual contribution towards health and educational growth by Global Society for health and educational growth (GSHEG) and many more.
Getting to the top seems everything. But the difficult part is staying up there, like a star and shining brilliantly. A true inspiration, Professor S.C.Mishra, shows the way to all those who are caught up in the race of life and have forgotten that winning is not, for sure, everything. He appeals to the present generation to be kind, honest and especially respectful not only to elders or professors but to juniors and every living being. To take life as it goes and to always believe that destiny is there to help you.
