IIFT Professor’s seminar talk at School of Management
A seminar on "Foreign Trade and Economic Development-with emphasis on various econometric models" was held at School of Management on 25th March, 2013 by the eminent speaker Professor Basanta K. Sahu of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. Dr. Sahu specializes in the area of 'International Economics', 'Indian Economy and Trade Policy', 'Macro Economics', 'Development Economics', and 'Micro finance'. Dr. Sahu has done extensive research in the area of "Trade Policy" and he is also a visiting Faculty to many IIMs & Tel Aviv University, Israel.

Management Development Programme
The School of Management, NIT Rourkela conducted a Management Development Progamme on 13th and 14th October on the topic “ Interpersonal effectiveness and team building”. This was the first such initiative taken by the department towards organizing such an event. This 2 day programme was organized with an aim for the development of managerial skills and better learning of various tactics to handle interpersonal relations more effectively in corporate life. Prof. S.K. Sarangi, Director, NITR was the honourable chief guest of the programme while Prof. Jyoti Mohapatra, Dean, SOA University and Prof. Tridib Chakraborti, Ex- Prof IIM Kolkata were the guests of honour for the inaugural session . Dr. M.R.Nayak, GM(HRD) , TRL Krosaki Ltd., was the guest of honour for the valedictory session. In this two day Management Development Programme, six sessions were conducted during which various topics like “Managing Interpersonal Relationship” , “ Team Building & Team Dynamics” , “Conflict & Stress Management” , “Managing Work Life Balance”, “Group Dynamics and Team Work” , “Effective Leadership & Subordinacy” were covered. Resource persons in different faculties were invited to conduct lectures, workshops, team bulding activities etc. Delegates from a number of organizations like NALCO, OPGC, OCL, TRL Krosaki Refractories ltd., NSPCL, L & T, Paradip Phosphate Limited and SAIL participated in this programme.

Grapevine Dishes Out Commercial Extravaganza
Grapevine, the School of Management (SOM) offshoot, conducted two charged up events, Brand-charades and Biz-plex, on 7th September, 2012 in the Management department itself. The events saw ample participation of students from both engineering and management backgrounds. Prof. S.K.Rath, Head of the Department, School of Management and Prof. Rajeev Panda guided the students in the successful completion of the events.

Department welcomed the 3rd batch of budding managers
School of Management in its own unique way celebrated and welcomed the 3rd batch (2012-14) of MBA and five PhD scholars on 24th august 2012, after the first batch students of the department had bagged placement offers and joined respective organisations. The new batch comprises of 22 students having a B. Tech degree in different engineering trades and even some of them having substantial corporate work experience. For doctoral program, five research scholars have joined to make their career in management discipline.
