Relishing the Beauty of Art: Palette

Thomas Merton once said,
Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.
Palette, an art exhibition by Chitraang, did exactly that. Scheduled to be inaugurated on the evening of the 2nd of February, it was delayed due to some issues and was inaugurated on the 3rd of February, at 10:00 am by Prof.S.K Das. It was open for viewing until Sunday evening. The exhibition was held at the Rajendra Mishra Hall. The exhibition saw large footfall, with over 300 viewers over the course of two days.
The event saw a major chunk of viewers after events like Footloose. Various forms of art ranging from Pencil sketches to Rangoli were displayed. The exhibition was an open exhibition meaning anyone could contribute their work. Many students from within campus and St.Paul's School, Rourkela have used this platform to showcase their talent. Some big attractions included live paintings, live cultural art as well as audience art. One particularly intriguing exhibit was the audience art. Here the audience was encouraged to splatter paint on a blank canvas. What formed at the end, with the help of an artist, was a beautiful painting of a dress. The audience was also able to share their feedback in a creative manner by putting their handprints on the posters.
The exhibition was the hard work of 25 plus members of the club. Club members began to make the arrangements one week prior to the event. The team, however, had faced many problems along the process. The team received a different flex than the one they had wanted and they were not provided lights from SAC as a part of requirements. As a result of this, they had to make their own arrangements. Team members also had to do the wiring themselves as those who were given the tender were not quite cooperative.
On speaking to the event coordinator, Armaan, he said
We’ve had many ups and downs while organizing the events but at the end of the day, we’ve gotten a lot of compliments for our work. It was all worth it and the event was a success.
Team MM congratulates the Chitraang team for the huge success of their event.
