One of the biggest attractions of the Tech Day, a practical teaser for the tech fest of NITR Innovision held on 6th September, 2014, is TechKhoj 2.0. 2.0 owes its inauguration in the previous year by CEST Club. Keeping the trend alive for this year too, it started as the first event for the day in Students Activity Centre (SAC) at 9:30 am in the morning.
The event was one of the biggest events of the day when one looks into the participation; 28 teams, each team consisting of 2-3 members that made a total of over 80 participants. The event consisted of three rounds. First of which was a written round testing the aptitude of the participating teams based on the results of which 15 teams moved forward to the second round. The second round was obviously a bit tougher; Sudoku round. Upon the performance of the participants in this round, the top 10 teams proceeded to the last and final round that lived up to its name in real sense.
The time designated for the start of the third round was around 11:45 am. And it did start in time devouring the natural calamities owing to the vigorous enthusiasm of the participants. Their job was to travel to seven places spanning all over the academic area. In each of the seven locations there was a volunteer with some clues and the teams had to complete a technical task in each of these locations. Points were given on the basis of the percentage of the job completed in each of these tasks. Some of the interesting tasks worth mentioning were about the Domino Effect and structures creating out of 10 cups. The domino effect is a chain reaction that occurs when a small change causes a similar change nearby, which then causes another similar change, and so on in linear sequence; you can understand it better if you watch V for Vendetta. Completion of the task was not the only criteria for judgement as “Time” was also an important factor. The total time allotted for the entire set of tasks was one hour and fifteen minutes.
All ended well with the declaration of the winners that is the team of Shivam Chandra, Manish Kumar Sahu and Aniket Mishra securing the top place followed by Nikhilesh Mishra, Avishek Rath and Mayank Kumar snatching away the runners-up prize.
