Being a Water Rocket Scientist

With four SAE events conducted successfully during Innovision ’14, the club was on a roll.  Utmost professionalism was maintained as always, keeping score with punctuality of the event schedule and convenience of the participants. Hydrofilght is a hallmark event of the club, the sequel being conducted this time. The problem statement given to the participants was to design a single stage water rocket using 2-2.5 liter soft drink plastic bottle that uses a combination of pressurized air and water for propulsion to complete a defined task. A total of 16 teams, with three members at maximum, registered for the event, which was conducted at workshop lawn and DTS.

The competition was carried out in two rounds; round one tested the range of the water rockets, requiring the participants to propel their rockets as far as possible. The second round aimed at finding the time of flight taken by the rocket. The team which puts up the highest accumulative score shall win the competition. 

The nerve-wracking contest was held in the best of spirits with all the participants competing enthusiastically to clinch the winner title. Finally, Ashutosh Kumar,Swmdwm Basumatary and Gyandeep Mundary emerged as the winners of this tense competition. There was a tie for the runners up position which was bagged by Soumik Jana, Sonali Samal, Abhishek Aditya and Vipin Kumar Gupta, Ankita Kumari, Elma Mehena. All the winners were felicitated with mementoes.
