Unleashing Sherlock

The second day of NITRUTSAV 2k15 was met by a fresh crime scene and a newspaper report on a murder carried out in a circus. A barricade around an outline of a body, suspect profiles and death notes are what it takes to attract a huge number of people to an event. The event NU Journalist, with the maximum number of participation in NITRUtsav 2k14 did not disappoint even this time with an even larger participation of 177 members (103 teams) this year. The event called out to the inner Sherlock of the crowd and asked them to prove their investigation skills.

The participants were provided with newspaper cut outs, autopsy report and death notes of individual deaths. The story revolved around the NU circus which recently witnessed three deaths in a row. A total of 9 suspects were presented before the participants and each team could interview each suspect twice. Later, these teams were also provided by hints from the organisers. Each of the students played the role of the suspect nicely leaving the participants really impressed by the characters. This event, taking part in the lawns in front of the library, took place in the afternoon and gathered more participants than expected.

NU Journalist was one of the major events carried out by Clarion, the debating and literary club of NIT, Rourkela. Participants could be seen crowding the lawns and sitting around in the lawns, interviewing the suspects, throughout the afternoon time. Since there was an option of registering and coming back and submitting later, the participants did not feel restricted to a single area and hence also got a chance to roam other parts of NU. Due to this, there was more participation in the event.

Although there were comparatively less submissions than the registrations, NU Journalist 2.0 managed to keep most of the participants interested in its plot and the organisers did get lot of right answers. Team MM congratulates NU Journalist team and hopes to see an even better version of it in the next NITRUTSAV.
