Being a Water Rocket Scientist

With four SAE events conducted successfully during Innovision ’14, the club was on a roll.  Utmost professionalism was maintained as always, keeping score with punctuality of the event schedule and convenience of the participants. Hydrofilght is a hallmark event of the club, the sequel being conducted this time. The problem statement given to the participants was to design a single stage water rocket using 2-2.5 liter soft drink plastic bottle that uses a combination of pressurized air and water for propulsion to complete a defined task. A total of 16 teams, with three members at maximum, registered for the event, which was conducted at workshop lawn and DTS.

Come.Debate.Conquer

While the rest of the technocrats who had come to witness the largest techno-management fest of Odisha, the techfest of NIT Rourkela, Innovision’14, there were multiple battles being fought in the various floors and rooms of the Lecture Assembly. A war of words is still a war. The 4th NITR Parliamentary Debate was going on full-fledged with warriors from various institutions of India turning up in large numbers to stick to their ground, stand by their views and negate those of the others around.

By God’s grace or something else, CEST (Civil Engineering Student’s Technical) Club was one of the very few clubs to grab the opportunity of hosting 4 events in this year’s techfest, Innovision ’14. And at the end of the day, one would not hesitate to give a pass certificate regarding the high success of quite many of them.

Making the Best out of Waste

Rotaract Club of NITR has always been known for innovating new ways to spread social messages across the masses. Recently, it organized a competition called ‘Kabaad-se-Jugaad’, an amusing event just prior to the start of Innovision ’14. Carrying the tagline, ‘Where trash comes handy’, the initiative aimed at intriguing the participants and bringing out their creative and innovative elements.
