Bringing Home Laurels

This monsoon, Prof D P Tripathy from the Department of Mining Engineering has given the NITR populace yet another reason to be proud of the institute. He has been honored with ‘MEAI- Smt. Bala Tandon Memorial Award, 2013-14’ for his contribution to ecology and environment improvement in the mining industry based on his academic and research accomplishments and industrial services throughout his career.

The Mining Engineers’ Association of India (MEAI) was founded in the year 1957 under the dynamic leadership of Mr. N. S. Claire. The Association came into existence due to the collective vision and wisdom of a few enterprising mining engineers working in the metal mining belt of Orissa and Bihar. The Mining Engineers' Association of India presents awards sponsored by industries and individuals to eminent mining engineers during the Annual General Meeting every year. Hundreds of nominations are filed across the country in anticipation of receiving a prestigious MEAI award.

The ceremony was held in Godavarikhani, Hyderabad on 28th June wherein celebrated mining engineers in India congregated for the 41st Annual General Meeting. Prof. D P Tripathy received the MEAI Smt.
