In yet another impressive victory for the ever evolving Department of Industrial Design, a student has struck rich laurels in the recently concluded Design conference of IIT-Bombay which was conducted from 6th to 9th December, 2015.

Sayon Mondal, bagged the top prize for his rendition of an ergonomically designed convertible desk-cum-bed with adjustable height. Apart from converting function as needed, the adjustable height had been imparted as a feature to cater to the varying height of different people. Sayon is currently pursuing research in artificially customized work space environment for improving human performance under Prof. Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal, of the Department of Industrial Design.

His future goals include attempting to implement a survey in NITR, thereby achieving an enhancement in performance among the students of the institute with the application of colour psychology, augmenting currently established performance parameters, by calculable and quantifiable indices.  In order to do this, he proposes the idea of a questionnaire, by which an accurate survey of the NITR cross-section may be undertaken.
