With the fast and far reaching effects of globalization becoming more and more visible even in our small corner of the world, everyone is well acquainted with the myriad cultures and traditions of the many foreign ethoses perceptible in the world today. When such a plethora of the manifestations of human intellectualities meet, there is a fusion of ideas imbued with a synergy far greater than the sum of its individual parts. This synergy was what AIESEC sought to capture and pageant via the event Global Village.

AIESEC stands for Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales. It is an international non-governmental nonprofit organization that provides young people with leadership development and cross-cultural global internship and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. To achieve this, they create events with a focus to empower young people so they can make a positive impact on society.

Global Village, which was organized in LA-Lawns from 9:30 to 11:00 pm and hosted by the Rourkela chapter of AIESEC Kolkata, was meant to be an interactive session among the various foreign representatives and our institute’s populace. With a turnout of nearly 250 people, the event was a huge success. Under the expert compéring of Masihullah Alimy, the interactive session proceeded smoothly with various introductions and performances by the visiting guests.

This was followed by a club music session where everybody danced to an Electronic Music session performed by Ankit Surana, DJ Deval, Zeoff, DJ Jorge and DJ Nish, which covered different genres such as Deep House, Future House, Trap, Electro House and Progressive House.

The event had to be abruptly ended when the security guards chased away the students at 10:50 pm, bringing an end to the enjoyable evening.

AIESEC Kolkata’s collaboration with ISM has yielded a good result as Global Village became a platform for achieving what it set out to do: make everyone a global citizen.
