According to Swami Sivananda Saraswati, “Education is the training in the art of living.” Art of living one’s life includes art of building one’s life also. Hence, “Life building and Successful living” lessons should be imparted to students in schools, colleges and universities through real or value based education. This was the very purpose of the 1 day Student Awareness Programme, as stated by Prof. T.K.Dan, HOD (Electrical).  This program on “Value Education on Life Building and Successful Living” was organized by VEC and NSS at BBA, NIT Rourkela on 3rd April 2016 from 10 am to 1 pm.

After the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony, the guests and the assembled audience engrossed themselves in the worship of the Almighty. This was followed by a talk on Life Building and Successful Living by Sri M.L.Agarwal.  Sri Rajat Kumar Pradhan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Physics, Bhadrak Autonomous College, delivered a speech highlighting the necessity of Value Education. After which, Sri Diptimaya Das, Lecturer, Department of Physics, Rajendra Autonomous College, Bolangir established a correlation between Modern teaching and students with Sivananda Literature. Then, the Chief Guest Prof. S.S.Pattnaik, Vice Chancellor, BPUT, Rourkela addressed the gathering. Then the Guest of Honour, His Holiness Shri Swami Sivachidananda Saraswati, Secretary, Sivananda Centenary Boys High School addressed the students and enlightened them on the art of living. 

It was announced that an 8 days Student Awareness Programme will be conducted around May, for which forms were distributed to be filled by interested students. The program would focus of Yoga techniques, various ways to control one’s mind and the art for a healthy and successful leaving.

The program truly made the audience wonder about the genuine differences they could make for themselves as well as the society by following the path shown by the speakers.
