The 52nd Annual General Body Meeting of NITRAA saw the taking over of the committee by members of the newly formed Executive Council for the year 2016-18. The meeting was held on Sunday, 3rd July 2016, at the Indo-German Club, Rourkela.
NIT Rourkela Alumni Association or NITRAA, which was formerly known as the Old Boys Association, aims at promoting professional, social and intellectual interaction amongst the members, and between members and the Alma Mater and the Society at large.
They also aim at encouraging the advancement of Science and Technology through Industry-Academic interaction and sponsored projects.
Shri Indramani Samal, an alumnus of 1982 B. E. (Mechanical Engineering) was the Election Officer in charge for conducting the online election poll of office bearers of NITRAA for 2016-18 as per the organization’s constitution. However, there was no need for the polling process since by the end of the process of nomination it was seen that there were no excess candidates for any of the 15 posts of the Executive Council. Hence, the nominated members automatically became the elected members of NITRAA for the years 2016-18 with Sri Bharat Bhusan Mohanty assuming the post of ex-officio member of the Executive Council.
NITRAA has 15 registered chapters at Angul, Balasore, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Qatar, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Singapore & Visakhapatnam. Chairmen and General Secretaries, or any two nominated members from each of these 15 registered chapters of NITRAA will also be de-facto members of the Executive Council.
The presidential address was delivered by newly elected President of NITRAA, Sri V. N. Peri, via a video conference. Another newly elected member of the council, Ms. Priyanka Singh, also attended the annual meet via video conferencing, thus making the 52nd Annual General Body Meeting the first NITRAA function that was covered through live video conferences.
Monday Morning extends its heartiest congratulations to all elected members of the Executive Council of NITRAA 2016-18 and hopes that they are able to achieve all their targets and expectations from this academic session.
