In the spirit of Humanity and universal brotherhood, NCC students and Keralites of NITR came together to organize a charitable drive for collection of donations from the NITR junta for helping those affected by floods caused by Torrential rains in Kerala which has caused havoc in the state.

On Saturday at 9:00 in the morning two hundred plus NCC students, Keralites and, Volunteers assembled at the NCC grounds for the charitable drive. Thereafter they were divided into small groups of 4-5 people with an in-charge who would take care of records and guide the groups. Furthermore, 3-4 groups were being headed by a Coordinator who would supervise their campaign and make sure everything is fine and adds up. Coordinating the event were managed by Lokesh Reddy ( Senior cadet captain of Navy NCC), Tapas(Sergeant of Army NCC) and Ramlal (Integrated M.Sc. student). Finally, overseeing the entire thing was Prof Shiv Kumar from the Department of Chemistry, Prof U.K. Mishra from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Prof Ajit Behera.

They then went to hostels and staff quarters and asked for donations to the campaign while keeping an offline as well as online record of successful donations to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). The drive was a successful one with people coming and reaching out in doves to help their fellow countrymen with total estimated donations in excess of 1.6 lakhs INR from students alone. Lokesh Reddy, commenting on the matter said

Volunteers were really active and enthusiastic in their work. Students were also very empathic and we were able to raise funds from almost every door that we have knocked, except for those who had issues with digital payments. Moreover,  the drive is not over yet,  major part is going to be from tomorrow,  i.e., VS,  SD,  SSB and faculty residences..  So,  if we get the same response from there too,  which we hope will for sure, this drive can be quoted as a massive success.

Team Monday Morning stands in solidarity with the people of Kerala and wishes the absolute best to those working to bring relief to the ones affected by the untoward floods. We encourage you all to donate to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress relief fund.
