Axiom, the Mathematics club of NIT Rourkela has been working diligently in the direction of inculcating numerous concepts of mathematics into the young student minds of NIT Rourkela. With a motive of spreading the charm of mathematics, Axiom organized its first edition of an event denominated as ‘FlashFire’.

FlashFire is a mathematical Olympiad, consisting of questions in the form of puzzles involving logical reasoning and data interpretation. The test comprised of a total of 45 questions varying from moderate to hard level. The test was based on the basic application of mathematics till 10th grade. The duration of the test was 2 hours.
With a total registration of over 50, 45 scholars attended the event on the eve of 23rd October 2019 in LA 214 at around 5:45 p.m. The Olympiad gives the participants a chance to win exciting prizes worth of 3k.

A participant, Joel Babu Katragadda said-

The questions were quite interesting. they were logical but not difficult.

Speaking about the event, President Subham Ranjan Sahoo said-

We conducted the event Flashfire for the very first time this academic year. Overall, the event was a successful one. Special credits go to the freshers and sophomores of the club who had taken most of the responsibility in their hands. We will try to come back with the 2nd edition of this event in the next academic year. The winner names will be declared this Diwali. The Olympiad tests the ability to analyse and establish the best recourse in a given situation. The section explores calculations and speedy decision-making ability. The time required for solving the questions was quite large in comparison to test duration, so we were searching for the giant who could get through the maximum number of questions. In a way, we wanted to increase the enthusiasm among the students of NIT Rourkela in Mathematics which is always our sole motive.

Team MM congratulates Axiom on conducting a successful event.
