Attention Students!!

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras invites application for Summer Fellowship Programme (SFP) 2020, for a duration of two months, with an aim to promote scientific learning and enhance research skills among the youths in the field of Engineering, Management, Basic Sciences and Humanities by inculcating a goal-oriented summer mini-project. The primary motive of this summer internship is to provide insights to the young research enthusiasts about varied research opportunities in various domains and nurture them into dynamic researchers.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates pursuing 3rd year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg) or 3rd or 4th year of Integrated M.E./M.Tech programme, 1st year of ME/M.Tech/M.Sc./M.A, MBA with an outstanding academic background are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic performance and achievements including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained.

  • IIT students are not eligible to apply.

TIME OF APPLICATION

The application to IITM SFP 2020 is live now. The deadline for the online submission is 29th February 2020, 5:00 PM IST.

PERIOD OF PROJECT

The tentative date of commencement of programme is 20th May 2020. The programme will continue until 19th July 2020. However, the schedule may be made flexible to suit the student’s convenience.

STIPEND

A sum of 6000 INR per month will be given as stipend for a maximum period of two months.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Interested people can apply for the fellowship through the official IITM SFP 2020 portal, https://sfp.iitm.ac.in/

  • Firstly, a new user needs to create an account by providing a valid email id and a login name. After the account has been created, a confirmation message will be sent to the registered email id. The user needs to access the link received and set a password for his/her account. 

  • Once the password has been set, the user can log in into his account by providing the correct username and password. 

  • He/she will be directed to the online application form under the ‘My Application Summary’ tab, where he/she can submit his/her personal details and subsequently the academic details.

  • Under the ‘Files Upload’ section, one has to upload his/her Passport size Photograph (JPEG format, not more than 512 MB), Bonafide Certificate, scanned copies of Academic Certificates (10th, +2, UG Marksheet, Diploma degree and mark sheet if any in a single PDF document not exceeding 5 MB) and Community/PWD certificate (if applicable).

  • Finally, click the ‘Submit Application’ tab to choose the department you are applying for. A sequential application number will be generated for future reference.

BONAFIDE

A letter or a studentship certificate issued by the Head of the institution to the student, certifying him/her to be a bonafide student of the institute, is one of the most important documents to be kept handy prior to the application. The links to the templates are attached below.
