A relatively young department, the School of Management, NIT Rourkela was started in 2010 and it has developed a lot. With each passing year, it has witnessed changes and initiatives meant to bridge the gap that exists between classroom teaching and the modern-day corporate scenario. The department learning strikes an impeccable balance between theory and practice to groom future action-oriented leaders. 

Programmes Offered

School of Management offers two years Graduate Programme in Management (MBA), Executive PhD in Management, Executive MBA in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Operations and subsequent research activities such as doctorate in Management and interdisciplinary fields. The department focuses on value-based teaching, learning environment, research orientation, consulting industries by developing the strong academic-industry interface. The admission to this department takes place through the Common Admission Test (CAT) score followed by a Personal Interview (PI).

Vision

In addition to professional expertise, the department aims to give more emphasis on training students for collaboration and teamwork through the development of human relations skills, and attitudes that foster commitment towards individuals as well as organizational excellence along with proper attention towards social and ethical responsibility.

Research Work

The department also has several sponsored research projects. These are sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research and Impactful Policy Research in Social Science. The department has also hosted conferences on ‘Hedge Effectiveness of Indian Non- Financial Companies’, ‘Earnings Management in India: A Study of Measurements, Stimulations, and Deterrents’ and ‘Talent agility: A prerequisite for innovation adoption in the transition from industry 3.0 to 4.0’ this year.

Prospects

The department received an impressive list of recruiters for the last academic year including TCS, CapitalVia, Jaro Education, HDFC, Naukri.com, Justdial.com, Progressive Media, Talent Corner to name a few. From what can be inferred from the placement trends, the coming year is going to be full of opportunities for the graduating batch.
