Scholarship Disbursement Made Easier : National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
The growing number of scholarships being granted necessitated a common platform to host them. Realising the need to bridge the information gap, the National Scholarships Portal aims at acting as an umbrella portal for implementing various scholarship schemes launched by the National, State and Union government. It is also an attempt to make the process of the scholarship application and delivery of funds effective and faster.
The various services enabled on the portal range from student application, application receipt, processing, sanction to the disbursal of various scholarships. It hosts about 50 scholarships worth hundreds of crores. The platform has, so far, helped disburse scholarships worth more than INR 2,400 crores. The platform boasts of more than 110 lakh applications out of which over 85 lakh applications are verified.

Applicants need to register and submit the application at the NSP portal (https://scholarships.gov.in/). The first time applicants are referred to as Fresh Students, and the students who have been granted a scholarship in any of the schemes on-boarded at NSP in the immediately preceding Academic Year, are referred to as Renewal students.
Fresh Applicants - need to register (using the icon " New Registration") at the portal to fill in the educational, bank account and other relevant details after which they receive a unique application number and password, which is used to login for the detailed application form.
Renewal Applicants - can only apply for renewal in the same scheme, for which they have been granted a scholarship in the previous academic year. Those wishing to apply for another scheme must withdraw the renewal application and register as a Fresh Student.
Students can also apply through the Mobile App - ' National Scholarships' available at Google Play Store or use the UMANG app launched by the government previously.
