Q: Are you satisfied with the company you are placed in or did you expect a better company?
A: I aspired for a better job profile but getting to start my career in a core engineering MNC does give me a lot of confidence. So, Yes I am satisfied!
Q: Were there any challenges that you faced in the beginning of the placement season?
A: You are always nervous at the start of any race and so was I but an early offer from Capgemini took away all the pressure. However, I did struggle in the mid-season when I was unable to crack a few GD and Case Study rounds.
Q: Were you rejected by any other company? If yes, what could be the possible reasons?
A: Was rejected by 4 very good firms and as two of them were big consulting houses (PwC and ZS), my lack of preparation in solving cases could be the possible reason.
Q: How many levels were there in the selection procedure of this company?
A: There were 3 levels:
· Online Test: Tech (50 Q in 30 Mins); English (40 Q in 15 Mins)
· GD: Topic- “Is Degree important or Skill?” (15 Mins)
· 1 PI: Covering both Technical and HR aspects
Q: What preparations did you undergo to get through the written rounds?
A: I referred to the following books throughout the season:
· English & Aptitude (Arun Sharma)
· Case Study (Case in Point)
· Technical (Hughes, Chakraverty) [For Electrical]
Q: What preparations did you undergo to get through the GD rounds?
A: During my PC Intern days, we had conducted many mock GDs among the batch mates and other interns which really helped in removing the menace of GD from my mind. Apart from that, I kept myself updated with the latest happenings across the world.
Q: What preparations did you undergo to get through the Interview rounds?
A: Brushed up my SIRE project and also worked on improving communication skills. The site www.pinterview.in is really good for mock interview sessions.
Q: Any tips or suggestions for the juniors?
A: Yes. Attend all the mock GDs conducted by the Placement Committee as it will really open you up and also help you improve your communication skills and personality which are important traits for cracking any interview.
Be sure about the kind of job/field/profile you want to get into and then start preparing accordingly by first building a very good CV.
Q: Can you briefly explain your overall experience of the placement season?
A: Luckily, it has been a good one for me. Not many rejections and one early offer kept the spirits high which helped me bag my second offer.
